Konpa & Life
On the night of a defining Miami concert, an aging konpa legend reckons with everything the music cost him — his Cap-Haïtien beginnings, the mentor who made him, and the family and home he left behind — and must decide whether to hold the spotlight one last time or hand the song to his children.
An original feature film chronicling four decades of Haitian music, family, migration, and identity through the lens of konpa. Developed as the storytelling pillar of the Konpa Heritage Program and envisioned as a global celebration of Haiti’s most influential musical tradition.
Konpa Heritage Program
This film is the storytelling pillar of Sons and Daughters of Haiti (SNDhaiti)’s Konpa Heritage Program — a three-part initiative to preserve, teach, and celebrate konpa as Haiti’s defining musical tradition.
Soup Joumou
When her dying mother confesses a lifelong secret — that she was adopted from Cap-Haïtien as a child — a Chicago professor of memory and inheritance sets out to find the Haitian siblings and birth mother she never knew, and to reclaim the identity that was hidden from her.
A drama about what families bury, what survives in silence, and the freedom soup that finally brings them to one table.
Lost in Lagos
A gifted, undisciplined Haitian musician outruns his debts and his family’s legacy by stowing away to Lagos, where love and an unlikely second chance dare him to stop performing escape and finally become a man who returns.
A cross-cultural romance spanning Cap-Haïtien and Lagos, carried by music and a guitar shaped like Haiti.

Every film is an act of preservation.
When the diaspora sees its own life rendered with care — its language, its music, its Cap-Haïtien specificity — it sees that the culture is alive and worth carrying forward. That’s the work: stories good enough to travel, true enough to belong to us.
