Media & Storytelling
Why This Work Matters
When a disaster strikes Haiti, cameras arrive within hours. When a Haitian filmmaker wins an award, the world is quiet. The global media ecosystem has a Haiti problem, one rooted not in the absence of stories, but in the absence of Haitian storytellers with platforms, funding, and distribution.
Sons and Daughters of Haiti (SNDhaiti)’s Film, Media & Storytelling program exists to close that gap. We support Haitian filmmakers, photographers, journalists, musicians, and writers, giving them the resources, the networks, and the exhibition opportunities to bring their work to audiences who need it most. This is not charity. It is an act of cultural reclamation.
We produce original work, co-produce with Haitian creators, and present existing work that deserves larger audiences. We believe that a Haitian story told with honesty, care, and craft is one of the most powerful tools of social change available to us. Every film screened, every song released, every photograph published is a small act of sovereignty.
