The Haitian National Swim Team’s Road to Tokyo 2020

Saturday, Mar 30, 2019
– Wednesday, May 1, 2019

7:00pm – 11:00pm

Every young swimmer has one dream: to win a Gold Medal at the Olympic Games. But making that sporting dream a reality needs a community behind-the-scenes to help a young person become the world’s best.

At Sons and Daughters of Haiti, a registered (501c3) non-profit, we strive to improve life for Haitian people. Our ambition includes inspiring Haiti’s children to achieve Olympic success.

Haiti sent an amazing 10 athletes to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games – our biggest team since 1976. Among them was Naomy Grand’Pierre.

Naomy, as a sophomore at the University of Chicago, made history as Haiti’s first female Olympic swimmer. The eldest of five children, raised by Haitian parents in Atlanta, she achieved her dream to compete in the Olympic 50-meter freestyle.

But Naomy is not the only child of Haiti with dreams of swimming at an Olympic Games.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is our next chance to send a swim team to compete on the world stage.

According to Naomy, her dream for Tokyo 2020 is as strong as ever: “as we continue to develop Haitian Swimming with the goal of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, I hope to inspire Haitians all over the world to embrace the history of Haiti with pride and dignity so together, we can show case Haitian beauty as a way to counteract the negative stigmas being spread.”

As sons, daughters and friends of Haiti, please join us as we celebrate with a cause.

Even if you can’t attend, you can still support the movement by donating here. Stay tuned for upcoming Gals coming to your city.
